Mission Statement Our mission is to provide professional child care programs in a safe, nurturing environment. We work with families to encourage each child to achieve his or her full potential in social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Three Programs Preschool, kindergarten and school age programs. Full day programs with family-style lunches and competitive fees for preschool and kindergarten children. After school, professional development days and school break care for school age children. Extensive summer program. Each of our three programs ensure positive childhood development. The preschool program is designed for children aged two to four years. The kindergarten program is for four and five year old children. The school age program is designed for school aged children between the ages of six and twelve. Within the school age program is a "Kids Club" for children in grades 5 and 6. The Kids Club addresses the older child's needs by providing special programming to enhance life skills, independence and self-confidence. Positive Learning and Personal Growth We encourage positive learning that allows for personal growth and provides an opportunity for peer interaction. The Centre provides the basic needs of home - good nutrition, creative play, rest and individual attention. Licensed Rockcliffe Child Care Centre is licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services under the Day Nursery Act. All Rockcliffe Child Care Centre teachers hold diplomas in early childhood education. They are trained to teach through play to allow the children to be exposed to situations that will stimulate curiosity, initiative and independence, self-esteem and decision-making capabilities, respectful peer interaction, gross and fine motor skills and communication. Communication Communication is the key to a successful parent teacher relationship. As well as encouraging parents and staff to express any concerns that may arise, all programs complete annual progress reports. Nutrition A nutritious lunch is served in the preschool and kindergarten programs. The school age program is served lunch on full days. Menus are prepared in accordance with MCSS quidelines and Canada’s food guide. Summer Programs The summer programs include weekly swimming, gymnastics, art projects and outdoor play as well as a variety of entertainment. | |||
